Zepbound® (Tirzepatide) Injection 15 mg/0.5 mL – Pen-Style Prefilled Syringes (4-Pack, RX Only)

Refrigeration Required – Recipient Must Be Available for Delivery

At Weight Loss RX, we provide access to FDA-approved prescription medications used in medically supervised weight management programs.

Zepbound® (tirzepatide) is a once-weekly injectable prescription medication approved for chronic weight management, not for the treatment of diabetes. It is indicated for adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (BMI ≥27) who also have at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. Zepbound is manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company and was FDA-approved in 2023 specifically for weight loss.

Description

Zepbound® (Tirzepatide) Injection 15 mg/0.5 mL. Zepbound contains tirzepatide, a dual-action medication that activates both GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptors. These hormones work together to regulate appetite, slow digestion, and improve metabolic signaling. By targeting both pathways, Zepbound helps reduce hunger, increase feelings of fullness, and support sustained weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes.

The 15 mg dose is the highest maintenance dose of Zepbound and is typically prescribed only after patients have gradually titrated through lower doses. Each carton includes four single-use, pen-style prefilled syringes, with one injection administered weekly. The pen design allows for convenient at-home use under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.

Zepbound does not contain insulin, is not a combination drug, and is not approved to treat type 1 or type 2 diabetes, although improvements in metabolic markers may occur as weight is reduced.

How Zepbound Is Used

Zepbound is injected once per week, on the same day each week, just under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Injection sites should be rotated weekly to reduce irritation.

Before injecting, inspect the pen to confirm the solution is clear and the medication has not expired. After cleaning the injection site with an alcohol swab, activate the pen according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the dose is delivered, the needle is automatically shielded.

Each pen is intended for single use only and must be disposed of in an approved sharps container. Pens should never be shared.

If a dose is missed, it may be taken as soon as remembered, provided the next scheduled dose is at least three days away. Patients should not take two doses in the same week unless directed by their healthcare provider.

Storage & Delivery Information

Zepbound pens must be stored in the refrigerator and should never be frozen. Because this medication requires refrigeration, an adult recipient must be available at delivery to ensure proper temperature control.

Important Medical Information

Zepbound is available by prescription only and should be used exactly as directed by a licensed healthcare provider. Weight loss results vary, and it may take several weeks to see noticeable changes. Patients should continue following a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity plan while using Zepbound.

Your healthcare provider will determine whether Zepbound 15 mg is appropriate based on your medical history, prior dose tolerance, and weight-loss goals.

What Makes Zepbound Different?

Zepbound uses the same active ingredient as Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) but is specifically FDA-approved for weight management. By targeting both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, Zepbound provides more robust appetite control and metabolic support than GLP-1–only medications, making it one of the most advanced prescription weight-loss injections available in the United States.

Frequently Asked Questions – Zepbound® (Tirzepatide) 15 mg

How does Zepbound work for weight loss?

Zepbound is a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. It mimics these natural gut hormones to regulate appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve blood sugar control, resulting in reduced calorie intake and significant weight loss.

How much weight can be lost with the 15 mg dose?

In clinical trials lasting 72 weeks, individuals receiving the 15 mg dose lost an average of approximately 21% of their starting body weight (around 48 pounds) when combined with diet and physical activity. Individual results may vary.

How quickly does Zepbound start working?

Some patients notice appetite suppression and early weight loss within the first 4 weeks as the medication reaches steady levels in the body. Weight loss typically continues progressively over several months.

How is Zepbound administered?

Zepbound is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection using a prefilled, single-dose pen. Injection sites include the abdomen, thigh, or back of the upper arm. Injection sites should be rotated weekly.

Should the pen be warmed before injection?

Yes. It is recommended to remove the pen from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before injection to allow it to reach room temperature, which may make the injection more comfortable.

What if I miss a dose?

If less than 4 days (96 hours) have passed since the missed dose, administer it as soon as possible. If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and resume your regular weekly schedule. Do not take two doses close together.

What are the common side effects?

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal and often improve over time. These include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach pain, and indigestion.

What are the serious risks?

Zepbound carries a Boxed Warning for the potential risk of thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), observed in animal studies. It should not be used in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Other serious risks include pancreatitis and acute kidney injury.

Does Zepbound interact with other medications?

Zepbound may reduce the effectiveness of oral birth control pills. Patients should discuss contraceptive options with their healthcare provider and consider using a barrier method for several weeks when starting treatment or increasing the dose.

Can Zepbound be taken once a month?

No. Zepbound must be administered once weekly, on the same day each week, with or without meals. Monthly dosing is not effective and is not recommended.
